The BBC would like to apologise for the following announcement. Nebtown has a Battle.net style 'realm' server up, pseudo-compatible with all games of that era (Diablo 1/2, Starcraft, Warcraft 2/3, along with theoretically some old Westwood studios games, like C&C Tiberium Sun).
Compatibility:
Starcraft |
Fully tested and working 100% |
Diablo 1 |
Partially tested and working |
Diablo 2 |
Works on Open Battlenet |
Warcraft 2 |
*needs testing* |
Warcraft 3 |
Works with This Loader -Other than that fully working- |
Connecting:
To enable your client to connect to it, simply run the following .reg file:
www.nebtown.info/swordfish/bosnia_west.reg
It merely adds Bosnia - West as a realm area, allowing you to continue to play standard regular starcraft on the normal realms, with the added option of using a server in West Bosnia (an area heavily underrepresented prior to this announcement) as your gateway of choice.
Perks:
- All CD keys work in Bosnia.
- Supports the Bosnian economy.
- Test games so far are showing to be 100% perfectly lagless, better than a test by the same group of people on official gateways prior.

Early-Game: You should mostly have Zealots or Stalkers. If you have the Charge and Blink abilities, use it to warp in behind the mainlines and destroy as many Probes as you can. Most of the enemy resources will be exhausted in the early rush, so this nearly eliminates competition. Only after this do you destroy the enemy troops that may have been standing guard. Charge will work wonders against the Stalkers, and Blink will work wonders on avoiding the melee Zealots. Otherwise, order the individual units to attack only their own kind. (Stalker v Stalker, Zealot v Zealot) Next, keep the guy from making more troops. You could destroy the Gateway, but the Pylons have a quarter of the health. In fact, kill all the Pylons on sight. Leave some troops to camp the Nexus to keep the Probes away while the others systematically destroy everything.
Mid-Game: By now you should have some Templars. Dark Templars are easily one of the most effective units in the game, but only if there are no detectors. Get an attack group of a handful of Dark Templars and three normal Templars, backed up with a few Zealots, Stalkers, or Immortals. Destroy the Pylons ON SIGHT to disable the Photon Cannons and keep the advantage to your Dark Templars. The main task of the Dark Templars, however, is to protect the Templars. Use a Psionic Storm near the mineral field, as this nearly instantly destroys income. (You did research something for the Templars to DO, right?) While the Dark Templars protect the Templars, they should destroy most of the enemy troops along the way without being stricken in return because the detectors were disabled. If your enemy has a Robotics Facility, it's good to have one or two Pheonixes in your group to take out all the observers. Once the troops are destroyed, double check for Pylons to ensure the gateway is disabled. With the enemy paralyzed, there should be no trouble using the Zealot backup to come in and destroy the buildings.
Late-Game: You have not entered the Late-Game until you have a Mothership and three or four fully-loaded Carriers Make sure most of your researches are finished and make a ground team of a handful of Dark Templars and two or three Templars, as in the Mid-Game. The Mothership's ability to cloak units also affects the Carriers' payload of fliers, so the main goal is to remove detectors. Another thing? DESTROY THE FREAKIN' PYLONS. Meanwhile, the ground team will once again use a Psionic Storm to cripple income and destroy nasty targets. The Feedback ability is useful here, as the enemy may actually have units that require energy. Also have a team of Pheonixes and Void Rays on call, because the enemy will also probably have heavy-duty flying equipment. Once the Pylons, Probes, and enemy heavy infantry are destroyed, use the Carriers to wipe out buildings in the order of Photon Cannons, Gateways, and the Nexus. With the Nexus destroyed, the Dark Templars can stop camping the Nexus and help finish off any pesky buildings left behind.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone is still capable of lagging in a game that was made when dial-up was still commonplace.

Ehh. Its not about speeds so much. Your average nebtowner has an upload speed of between 50-120kb/s. Source gaming, like TF2 or Gmod, uses between 4-6kb/s, spiking to 7 or 8 in very circumstantial cases. If it was just speed, lag would be nonexistant.
I'd imagine Starcraft'd probably use 2-4kb/s per user, so obviously the lag is from elsewhere.

There is a battle.net edition. It can only be installed after the WC2 expansion is installed, I think.
